Vans Weijers enjoyed an impressive first appearance in the Strijen Club Race, securing an excellent 7th place overall in a highly competitive field of 16 Rotax Max Senior drivers.
After qualifying in 8th position, Vans lined up for the opening race determined to make progress. He kept his composure through the hectic first corner, avoiding the incidents around him before settling into a strong rhythm. On lap seven, he executed a clean overtaking move to gain another position, bringing the kart home in an excellent 7th place.
His result in Race 1 earned him a 7th-place starting position for the second race. Once again, Vans demonstrated his racecraft and consistency, battling confidently with the drivers ahead and securing another strong finish in 6th place.
The final race proved to be far more challenging. A push-back bumper penalty from Race 2 meant Vans had to start from P9 instead of further up the grid. To make matters worse, he was hit from behind during the intense fight into Turn 1, dropping another position in the opening lap. Despite the setback, he continued to push until the chequered flag and finished the race in 10th place.
After all three races were completed and the officials had calculated the final points and penalties, Vans was classified 7th overall—an excellent result for his debut in the Strijen Club Race and a clear indication that both the pace and potential are there for the remainder of the season.
With a strong foundation laid and valuable championship points on the board, KSR20 now looks ahead to the next Strijen Club Race on 13 September.
